Sloansville (Schoharie County): Clayton C. Hicks 81, of Route 20 died Friday, November 6, 2009 at his residence after a brief illness.

Clayton was born October 24, 1928 in Jefferson, a son of Albert and Catherine (Decker) Hicks. He was educated in the Richmondville School and later, began his career as a mason with BAC Local #2 in Albany. He worked on many projects throughout the capital region including the Scotia Bridge, the Amsterdam and Saratoga Hospitals and Ellis Hospital while working for S.R. Beltrone Co. in Latham until his retirement in 1988.

Clayton enjoyed bowling for many years and participated in the Sunday Mixed League and Monday Night League at Cobleskill and Middleburgh Lanes. He and his wife also enjoyed traveling on bus trips throughout the region and repairing bicycles.

Survivors include his wife Beverly (Clapper) Hicks whom he married May 25, 1949, one son Donald (Vicki) Hicks of Cobleskill, two sisters Lucy Coons of Warnerville and Esther Silsby of Duanesburg, 5 grandchildren Larry Salisbury, Jr., Brian Salisbury, Jason and Jennifer and Jeffrey Hicks, three great-grandchildren Dylan Michael Hicks, Richard Jeffrey Terpening and Matthew Jayson Terpening along with several nieces and nephews. Clayton was predeceased by his parents Albert Hicks and Catherine Hicks Pierce and one daughter Joyce Hicks in 1989.

Calling hours will be held from 11AM to 1PM on Tuesday, November 10th at the Langan Funeral Home, 195 North Main St., Central Bridge. Burial will follow in the Summit Cemetery. There will be no formal funeral service.
