Schoharie (Schoharie County): Mr. George G. Hoop, III 58, of Barton Hill Road died Tuesday, January 19th at the Albany VA Hospital after a brief illness.
George was born October 16, 1951 in Goshen, NY a son of George G. and Hattie “Virginia” (Foland) Hoop. He attended Schoharie and Middleburgh Schools and later, enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served in transportation until his honorable discharge in 1972.
Mr. Hoop drove truck for the former Harlen, Sprague, Dewalace trucking in Altamont and had also worked at General Electric Co for 10 years, Distribution Unlimited and finally Wal-mart in Cobleskill.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda (Liddle) Hoop whom he married March 21, 1973, four children Arthur Liddle of South Carolina, George G. Hoop, IV, Brian K. Hoop, and Kim M. Jones, all of Schoharie, his mother Virginia Bouck of Middleburgh, his brothers Pat Hoop and Fred Hoop both of Middleburgh, Robert Hoop of Cobleskill and Irving Bouck of Middleburgh, his sisters Vivian Padgent of Cobleskill, Linda Gladd of Colonie and Virginia B. Bouck of Middleburgh along with eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family with military honors provided by the Marine Corps honor guard. Friends and family of George Hoop would like to thank the members of the VA ICU that cared for George at the time he spent there. “Gone too soon but never forgotten. You will always remain in our hearts.”
The Langan Funeral Home of Schoharie and Central Bridge is assisting the family with arrangements.
